Personal data and preferences
- Data controller
- The non-professional publisher of ChessGrammar, reachable at contact@chessgrammar.com.
- Newsletter
- The email address, language, request and confirmation dates, and consent version are used only to manage subscriptions and send publications. Subscription uses double opt-in: an initial request followed by email confirmation.
- Contact form
- The email address, topic, message and language are transmitted in order to handle and answer the request. None of these details is added to the newsletter. The IP and email addresses are transformed into pseudonymous identifiers for abuse prevention; no raw IP address is stored in the application database.
- Board bug reports
- Reporting a problem with a board runs a Cloudflare Turnstile challenge and creates a GitHub issue containing your description and, if supplied, your email address. The email is used only to reply about that report and is removed once the issue is closed. No description or email is sent to the push-notification service used to alert the team.
- Legal bases
- Newsletter processing is based on your consent, which can be withdrawn at any time. Contact messages and security measures are based on the legitimate interest in answering requests and protecting the service from abuse.
- Service providers
- Vercel provides hosting, Upstash stores subscriptions and pseudonymous abuse-prevention counters, and Resend transmits messages and newsletter emails. These providers act only to supply their technical services.
- Retention periods
- An unconfirmed newsletter request expires after 48 hours. A confirmed subscription is retained until unsubscribe. After unsubscribe, a suppression record may be retained to the extent needed to prevent an unintended future message. Abuse-prevention counters expire after their ten-minute or one-day window. Contact messages are removed from the recipient mailbox within 90 days after the exchange closes, unless a justified legal need requires longer retention.
- Processing outside the European Economic Area
- Vercel, Upstash or Resend may process some data outside the European Economic Area. Such processing is governed by the providers’ contractual safeguards, including their data-processing agreements and, where required, Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Your rights
- You may request access, rectification, erasure or restriction of your data, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw Newsletter consent by writing to contact@chessgrammar.com. Every newsletter also carries an immediate unsubscribe link. You may lodge a complaint with the French data-protection authority at cnil.fr.
- Cookies and audience measurement
- The functional NEXT_LOCALE cookie remembers the chosen language for twelve months; it contains no identifier or tracker. The theme preference remains in the browser’s local storage. Vercel Web Analytics provides aggregate, cookieless audience measurement without advertising or individual profiling.
